"Rebuild the Family, Restore the Community, and Renew the Nation and the World!"
The American Clergy in Leadership - to be true to our name, we set forth the following: As
leaders of America, we will focus our attention to help guide leaders from the church,
community, businesses, and even heads of state, and be the voice of the prophet to the nation
and world.
The prophet may not necessarily be in a popular position, however, he stands firmly in the face
of adversity, and guides the people and nation through troubled times to a better day of
freedom and peace.
Diverse programs for ACLC development and growth
The ACLC took strong root in the year 2000. During this year, Rev. Dr. Sun Myung Moon
launched a 12-City Speaking Tour in America, with the purpose and motto to: "Rebuild the
family, restore the community, and renew the nation and the world".
To support the ministers in their ministry, a three-pillars approach to the ACLC organization
has been developed.
These are:
- Divine Principle Study
- True Family Values Education
- Social Action and Faith-based Community Empowerment Programs
The Divine Principle study is designed to help to rebind the divinity of humankind back to its
original state, and transcends religions and cultures. True Family Values is focused on the true
divine value of families from the Creator's original intention. Social Action and Faith-based
Community Empowerment Programs are designed to work with churches, community groups,
civic organizations and to empower "the least of these", which was spoken of in the Bible.
The ACLC national convocations should include 3 days of workshop material from each of the
varying pillars of support.
1. The Divine Principle is the key to unlock the secrets of the Bible: The Divine Principle
does not contradict the Bible, the Torah, the Koran, or other holy scriptures. On the contrary, it
embraces these texts and gives further insight on how to become better people in all walks of
life.
Dr. Lonnie McLeod, a Professor at the Unification Theological Seminary in New York City,
states in an introduction to the Divine Principle and the Rev. Dr. Sun Myung Moon:
"Though the Divine Principle is clearly one of the most powerful and clearest introductions to
humanity and our Creator, we must give credit and respect to Rev. Dr. Sun Myung Moon's
effort and work in bringing this information to us at this day and time.
I want to introduce you to a man that met Jesus Christ on a mountainside of North Korea in
1936 when he was 15 years old. From the ages of 15 through 24, Jesus taught him. He studied
directly under the saints of the ancient biblical historic times through his spiritual giftedness
and revelation from the Holy Spirit and his anointing from Jesus. The greatest gift that Jesus
could give to us at this time is the gift of the Divine Principle through the love and devotion of
Rev. Sun Myung Moon. This is the man to whom we owe this contribution, and we thank
Jesus for the anointing of this great man at such an early age. He picked up his cross and
followed Jesus."
Why is the Divine Principle so important to our lives? Let's take a look at one of the scriptures
from the ancient book that we call the Holy Bible. In Romans 7:20 it says:
"Now if I do what I do not want to do, it is no longer I who do it, but it is sin
living in me that does it. So I find this law at work: When I want to do good,
evil is right there with me. For in my inner being I delight in God's law."
Though it is very clear that St. Paul was indeed a holy and righteous man, but still he
could not control his body urges that pulled him against the desires and will of his
original mind. The Divine Principle clearly explains why, and how we can remove
this mind and body contradiction, which people face even today.
2. True Family Values
Education: This curriculum is a Bible-based yet practical guide
expounding the virtues of pure honest love, fidelity, devotion and filial piety.
This course
covers conflict resolution, marriage and family stability, and addresses the problems facing the
modern day families and supports the value of the family, both spiritually and economically.
This course can be taught as an 8-week course, or as long as an 18-week course. At the end of
the course, certificates of completion will be given along with a "Family Church of Peace
Flag"
that contains the words, "If there is peace in family there will be peace in the nation and
the world". This flag will be a blessing to the homes they are displayed in.
3. Social Action and
Faith-Based Community Empowerment Programs: A necessary
component to an effective ACLC group is the Faith-Based Community Empowerment
Programs (FBCEP) and Social Action. ACLC has engaged in numerous programs throughout
the country and world. We have reached as far as the Middle East, South Korea, South
America, and even in our own backyard, New Orleans, in the Katrina aid and rebuilding
efforts.
In an ACLC Convocation, the Social Action component could feature best practices, calling
organizations and program experts to present their programs and provide information on
resources that can empower ministers in their work and outreach.
The ACLC will recommend ACLC ministers who quality for Unification Theological
Seminary (UTS) scholarships. Scholarships will be awarded based upon meeting UTS's
qualification requirements and scholarship availability.
All of our communities, rich or poor, need to be stabilized through peace, love and a healthy
environment. Therefore, as ACLC swells in numbers, reaching to 30,000 ministers, we will
keep this promise as we convene on Capitol Hill in Washington, DC, in the year 2008. This
will be one of the largest conventions in history, in which core representatives of 30,000
pastors will be present, which will swell to a group that will total to one million clergy and
community leaders, joining together to end domestic, community and worldwide violence and
to work for families who are in poverty and in need in America and throughout the world. As
in the words of Jesus, we must take care of the least of these.
These will be the voice of the prophet to the king and nation. We intend to not only be a
guiding light to our leadership, but to be a grassroots organization that is constantly working
with the underprivileged and with smaller churches who are struggling to move ahead.
The ACLC has the power and potential to be the organization that God can use as a
providential lightning rod to help America become the righteous nation that God intended.
Through the ACLC, which is the collective efforts of ministers and leaders across the nation,
we can revitalize the nation and save it from further decline.
It is critical that religious leaders and leaders in the community work together to address the
issues facing the nation and thus fulfill our motto to Rebuild the family, restore the
community, and renew the nation and the world!!
