Archbishop Stallings gave an introduction that piqued everyone’s interest when he said that until he encountered the OSDP, all of the theology he studied had as its foundation of the theology of atonement, whereas OSDP is the first theology that comes from the perspective of God’s original ideal. Rev. Dr. Michael Jenkins led the study sessions, which were focused on a deeper look at the mission of Jesus and John the Baptist. He pointed out that although the Pharisees taught the Mosaic Law, they couldn’t understand Jesus, and went on to say that we need to light up a new path for the people. There was a time God didn’t want Israel to mix with other people. A team of ACLC pastors and lay ministers planned the 8th annual Montana ACLC conference, held April 9th in Billings, from 9:00 to 2:00. The 63 participants included all races (Native American, African American, Hispanic, Asian and White), with clergy, teachers, youth leaders and community leaders making presentations and leading discussions. The main presentation was part of a study on the topic of Resurrection from “Living,” a small group study curriculum. We used session 1: the Meaning of Life and Death. Minister Ella Byrne, our Northwest district ACLC coordinator, had chosen the material. The four hundred year course the Israelites took to go from Egypt to the land of Canaan is a long one. However it is rich in lessons for us today. Rev. Weston paused along the way to gain insight into each of them. For example, when Moses came down from the mountain with the tablets he found the people worshiping the golden calf. He broke the tablets and then fasted forty days to gain them again. Rev. The idea for the program came to Dr. Sophia Crocheron at one of our ACLC pastors’ Forums in Detroit. As we were studying the topic of the Three Blessings a discussion of marriage lead to the discussion of the many single women who are in need of spiritual help.
